Stevenage based company Alchemy Metals have stayed open through the COVID-19 pandemic to support organisations, such as manufacturers, through production and key projects. The organisation works with fellow Made members such as Gardner Aerospace, Portakabin and European Exhaust.

Alchemy Metals primary business is trading scrap metal waste, and play a key role in delivering and maintaining their services to a range of critical organisations. This includes companies who work on electricity, water and rail networks who are classed as Category 2 responders under the Civil Contingencies Act. In a recent statement from the company, they said:

“This status places obligations on the provision of service and Alchemy Metals are an important part of the end to end supply chain that enables these key customers to deliver on their obligations to customers and maintain the continuity of their essential services.”

However, alongside this the company is also open to continuing servicing all manufacturers that are working through the crisis, especially to those who are producing components for the medical sector. Nicola Guest, Group Marketing Manager at Alchemy, said:

“Any waste made within a manufacturing process is able to stop any production. With many of our clients, this is an automated system so if their waste is filled, production will stop. Therefore we have decided to keep providing these services to manufacturers, whilst many other services like ours have closed shop because we are needed.”

Alchemy are committed to helping organisations where and when they can, adding to the previous statement they said

“If your organisation is not an existing customer but needs an interim service to keep business running smoothly please do contact us and if we can help then we will, alternatively if we can not help we may be able to draw upon our contacts that remain open and find a solution for you.

Being a very small part of these essential services is important to us, we are in awe of those companies that have really stepped up at this time and we would like to thank you – we are eternally grateful.”
